I teach IB Chemistry at both HL and SL and have spent the last 9 years helping Diploma students get to grips with the parts that usually cause trouble: energetics, equilibrium, redox and organic mechanisms. I also support IAs, especially research question design and data processing. My lessons are calm but direct, with plenty of past-paper work once the foundations are secure and the student can explain each step.

Hi, I’m an IB Chemistry tutor and I mostly work with students who feel the subject has suddenly become a lot heavier in Year 12. I’m patient, but I do expect students to practise between lessons. I like using simple models first, then moving into IB wording and mark schemes. Organic chemistry is my favourite area to teach, especially when students start spotting the patterns instead of memorising every reaction.

I have taught IB Chemistry for 14 years, including several cohorts preparing for final exams and Internal Assessments. My background is in chemical engineering, so I tend to bring in practical examples from materials, fuels and reaction design where they fit the syllabus. I work carefully through HL extension topics and place a strong focus on precise explanations, units, method marks and sensible exam timing.

I tutor IB Chemistry online and usually take on a small number of students each term, so I can follow their progress properly. Most of my lessons are built around what the student has just covered in school, then we add exam questions once the topic is less shaky. I’m especially good with stoichiometry, bonding and acids and bases, as those are the topics I used to struggle with myself before studying chemistry seriously.

I’m a former lab demonstrator who now tutors IB Chemistry alongside research work. I enjoy helping students turn messy class notes into something they can actually revise from, but the main focus is always understanding the chemistry behind the answer. I have a lot of experience with IA planning, uncertainty, graph work and writing conclusions that match the data rather than overclaiming or sounding vague.

My IB Chemistry teaching is quite exam-focused, but not just drilling papers from day one. I start by finding the exact gaps, then build towards longer structured questions and data-response tasks. I have worked with both HL and SL students, including those aiming for 6s and 7s. Thermodynamics and kinetics are my main strengths, and I’m fussy about clear working because IB mark schemes are too specific to guess.
